Update 11-13-13: The 3Gun is in stock. See our post with photos and details.

Original post:

We received word today that Sig will be selling a new 716 rifle with an 18″ barrel. The model is going to be called the 716 3-Gun and will be shipping in about four to eight weeks.

I’m told the 716 3-Gun will have a match grade trigger, Sig grip and stock, quad rail, 18″ heavy barrel, and it will ship in a Sig Rifle-Gobag. MSRP is expected to be roughly $2600.

This rifle will be the first 18″ 716 to ship. In 2012 Sig took orders for a 20″ Precision Marksman (R716-H20B-PRM) but it never shipped. Eventually it was canceled and replaced by an 18″ Precision Marksman (R716-H18B-PRM). To date we have not seen any of the 18″ Precision Marksman rifles ship. As of this posting the estimated ship date on that model is 02/2014.

As we receive new information or photos, we will post updates here.

Update 6-18-13: The Sig part number for this model is R716-H18B-3GH and the Sig order description says “SIG716, 7.62 NATO, 3GUN HVY, SEMI, 18 IN, MATCH TRIGGER, SIG GRIP”. Estimated delivery is currently November 13, 2013.

Do you have any pictures? Your site is the only site discussing this gun and I am very curious as I have been watching patiently to see how everything works out. You say it is a 3-gun style precision so does it come with a guarantee of shooting 1/2 or better MOA? What is going to be the rate of twist on the barrel? Please more detail when you get a chance!

We do not have photos yet but I understand it will be more like 1 MOA. The 716 DMR should be more in the line of 1/2 MOA. I don’t know the twist rate yet but will post that info as soon as it is available.

So am I to understand that the 3 gun 716 will be shipping in November 2013 and the 716 precision won’t ship until February 2014?

That is what we’ve been lead to believe. It also sounds like the 716 Precision may be renamed to the 716 DMR.

Any updates on the 716 DMR or Precision? My dealer can’t get a straight answer from his SIG rep. Just wondering…. since I’ve had the Precision on order since Jan 13, and it appears that the DMR is going to replace the Precision, will SIG fill the Precision back orders with the DMR, or do I need to order the DMR part number and canx the Precision order?

I went to my LGS today to order this 716H18B 3 gun rifle. They have apparently changed it to the 716H18B-DMR it has bird cage on end of barrel. And Magpul adjustable A2 type butt stock, 18″ barrel for about 2200.00
This is different from 20″ was told 3 gun not available.

The 3-Gun was supposed to be a limited quantity and I’m not sure that the would build more since the DMR model is due for release. The Precision Marksman was indeed replaced with the DMR. The part number is correct on the DMR, R716-H18B-DMR, but I thought the MSRP was going to be closer to $2700 or $2800.

Lol that is sort of funny. I just went to sigs site and they finally updated it. Besides more magpul furniture, wouldn’t the Geisel (sp?) be a better trigger and since it is listed as a heavy barrel wouldn’t that be better than the DMR? Will they ever come out with a 20″ barrel?

Called Sig today here is what I was told H18B-PRM does not exist. H18B3GH was made and a few are out there but has since been cancelled. H18B-DMR is going to be released but they are having accuracy issues and until fixed will not be released. At first was told 3/14 release and as conversation went on was told they don’t have a release date. But the DMR is being made????

Glad I got my 3-gun. Sounds like there may not be too many out there…
